This figure is intriguing, but it's important to note that if your goal of mastery is at 40,000 hours, you might think you're almost there at 8,000 hours, when in reality, you're only 20% of the way.

The Quality of Hours Matters More Than Quantity

Contrary to popular belief, the number of hours spent does not determine mastery. This is because there are daily tasks we perform that we have logged countless hours on, but do not necessarily translate to mastery in a new context. For example, you may have logged 10,000 hours of driving, but that does not mean you can drive a Formula 1 car in a race.
